A word from CPFH about our current times:
Posted: August 6, 2020
These times are tough. Becoming a mother, mental health challenges, and the impact of all that is happening in the culture create stress for all of us, particularly for African American women and families. We at CPFH want to help be a part of the solution. We strive to provide a safe and respectful environment for all people. A place where your experiences can be listened to, processed and explored. A place where you can talk about things that feel difficult to bring up anywhere else. A place where you are seen as an individual, but also in context of your life, culture and relationships, and how they effect your well-being.
We are a private counseling center that is only one small part of a much larger community. But we want to do our best to meet the needs of all of those in it. Racial and cultural diversity has always been a goal for the makeup of the staff at CPFH, and together we work to increase our understanding and awareness of other’s experiences that are different from our own. So, know that we are here for the mothers of Texas and their families, particularly for the black mothers of Texas, because everyone is deserving of high-quality mental health care. All of this to say, that at CPFH, black mothers have always mattered.
If you’d like to contribute to organizations that are creating awareness, advocacy and resources for mothers of color please see The Shades of Blue Project in Houston and The Black Mamas Matter Alliance.
