Sherry J. Duson, M.A., LPC-S, LMFT-S, PMH-C
Sherry Duson is a longtime specialist and advocate for pregnant and postpartum mothers. Sherry founded CPFH to fill a gap in the community for services specific to pregnant and postpartum mothers. Since then, the center has trained many therapists and helped hundreds of mothers and families.
Sherry recently stepped out of owning and leading the practice, but remains committed to its vision and success. She continues with CPFH in the role of clinical consultant and trainer.
She has worked with new mothers and their families since 1999. Sherry's own experience as a mother led to her interest in addressing the unique needs of women and parents during this important phase of family life. For over 10 years she led a weekly support group for pregnancy and postpartum depression and anxiety at Houston area maternity hospitals.
A committed advocate and educator on the subject of maternal mental health, Sherry served for two years as Chair of the Advisory Board for the Yates Children Memorial Fund at Mental Health America of Greater Houston, helping develop resources and training that addressed mental health needs of new mothers.
She is a member of Postpartum Support International and served as a co-coordinator for the State of Texas. She co-chaired their 2008 conference where she helped teach the assessment and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
She is a past-president of the Houston Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. A Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice, Sherry is also a State of Texas board-certified clinical Supervisor for both licenses.
